Born in Bavaria, Germany, Michael van Gelder arrived in America at an early age and discovered a love for the arts. At the age of six, Michael began his creative journey with the study of classical music, which lasted six years. As a teenager, Michael discovered the Rock & Roll band "KISS", which changed his musical direction and he began playing guitar. Since, Michael has had years of experience in the studio recording, performing live, and touring.
During his musical journey, Michael learned he also had a talent for photography. While he enjoys photographing a variety of subjects and has a vast portfolio, his passion is capturing live performances. Having been the performer, he knows how the artist wants to be presented and delivers just that, making him a great rock photographer. As a music fan, he has the added advantage of knowing the audience/fan perspective, allowing him the keen eye to capture the moment that demands remembering.
